This site compares prices , services and more in Great Britain and America,  There are many differences in America and England whether it be better or worse we give you an honest opinion on both sides.

The site looks at many areas of difference between the USA and UK .

Despite the similarities which we can easily identify like language western style capitalism and freedom of speech and democracy.
Some of the costs of living in the 2 countries are so wide and we have tried to identify some of the reasons and examples.
The most obvious is the price of property and Petrol which in turn effects most other aspects of lifestyle.
The difference in house prices can be easily explained by looking at the relative size of the countries and the population per acre.
The difference in fuel prices is much more complicated both countries do have oil reserves UK : through the north sea and USA with many oil reserves both on and off shore. The price difference is mostly due to the high taxes applied to petrol in the UK

Although the United States does have both Democrat and Republican parties the differences are not as wide as old fashioned Conservative and Labor parties in the UK and consequently many of the consumer rights in the UK are not supported in the States especially in the areas of finance and competition.

In general the size and fuel efficiency of cars in the US means people drive bigger thirstier cars and more have trucks and SUV's with even some new cars only delivering 12MPG

Although the United States has some of the best protection available for the individual under the bill of rights many of those rights have not been provided to children.

Most of the goods bought including electronics clothes and other goods are cheaper in the USA possibly due to the efficiency of production for a larger populace and cheaper fuel costs

Another major differences between the 2 cultures stem from the availability of land and natural resources , boating , fishing and hunting are all freely ( at very low costs ) available to all. And other hobbies that would be considered only for the fairly wealthy
due to the cost of land to E.G. Horses , ATV's snowmobiles etc are not only available they are part of the American way of life.

If you look at the workplace other difference's can be identified in general the US could be considered a hire and fire environment but due to the strength of the Trade Unions for many years in the UK more thought and effort is applied to workers rights

The next section we have looked at is Health . In the UK medical treatment is provided free at the point of delivery but the US is primarily a private health system this means the wealthier you are the better the treatment , the poorest members of society
can obtain free health services and possibly the worst affected are the lower to middle income sections of society . Both ideas have problems the NHS is major drain on taxes in the UK and often due to " free " some members of society monopolies large amounts of Tax Payers money. The Insurance based health system means much less is spent on preventative medicine ranging from no free glasses to children to free cancer screening.

The last area looked at is Education in general the school sizes are smaller in the US but many of the same problems appear in both countries inner city schools with less achieving a level of education which will help them with entry into College or University. When discussing education the major difference between UK / USA has to be the cost of higher education the fees in the USA can make the difference between a student pursuing higher education or not due to the financial drain on the parents and the debt the student will leave University with

There are many things that strike me as being great in America and some that are not so good, I found that cars in America are cheaper than in the uk and last a lot longer than in England. In the food section I have mentioned the extortionate price of something as simple as bread in the US. Insurance for life car and house in the USA is a lot cheaper than the uk especially the car insurance of which us British pay rip off prices, the same with petrol.
